Pageantry in Nigeria is no longer a Beauty Contest. It is an avenue where individuals and enterprises generate income via selling the crowns and sending the contestants to sleep with men(politicians) to get financial aid.
Selling of of tickets by the contests is a normal cosmology of most Beauty Contest in Nigeria. The contestant who sells the highest number of tickets stands more chance of winning.
My question is, 'how can beauty, intelligence and creative performance be judged through this platform!
If a very beautiful young girl who is very intelligent have creative skills to pull her audience and judges is not financially buoyant to meets up with the demands of the agency , what is her fate ' !
There are cases where fellow contestants buy cars and give to the organisers to brand just to ensure that they emerge as the winners. This implies that no matter how well another contestant performs, she can not get the 👑 crown because the car belongs to another contestant.
*Have you ever wonder why no Nigerian have been able to make their audience proud since after the reign of Agbani Darego as the Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria MBGN 2001 which made her eligible for the Miss World Pageant where she emerged as Miss World 2001!*
Agbani Darego was crowned Miss World 2001, making her the first black woman from Africa ever to emerge as Miss World because the criteria for judging is base on Beauty, Brain, and Creative performance.
If Modeling Agencies and Pageant Organizers can restore their Dignity and put an end to these child's play, we have beautiful and intelligent girls here in Nigeria who will succeed Agbani Darego.
